Order LAB2256, Cytology Order Request. Indicate specimen type, collection time, and ordering practioner. Label specimen container with patient's name and birthdate.
Specimen Requirements
Collect one of the following:
1)Bronchial brushings made at the patient's side by smearing the brush on glass slides and immediately immersing them in a Coplin jar of 95% ETOH.
2)Bronchial washings: Add Mucolexx and refrigerate.
NOTE: IF OTHER LAB TESTS ARE ALSO ORDERED, BE SURE TO SUBMIT A SEPARATE SPECIMEN WITH NO MUCOLEXX.
Be sure to label specimens correctly - left or right. Label slides with patient's name in pencil. If there is more than one specimen per patient, use one specimen container per separately labeled specimen and one requisition for each specimen.
