Order LAB2256, Cytology Order Request. Specify specimen type, collection time, and ordering practioner. Label specimen with patient's name and birthdate.
Specimen Requirements
Collect early morning sputum specimen (Respiratory Therapy is routinely responsible for collecting early morning specimens).
Add Mucolexx fixative and refrigerate.
NOTE: If other lab tests are also ordered, be sure to submit a separate specimen with no Mucolexx.
