The direct coombs test is used to demonstrate antibodies that have become attached to the patient's red cells in vivo in the following settings: a.Hemolytic Disease of Newborn due to maternal antibodies attached to fetal RBC. b.Hemolytic transfusion reaction due to incompatibility of donor blood. c.Autoimmune or drug-induced hemolytic anemia.
