Specimen Requirements

Preferred Collection Container: green top heparin tube, SST 

Also Acceptable Collection Container: serum red top tube

Collection Information:

Collect 0.5 mL of Lithium heparinized plasma or serum. 

Should be drawn in the a.m. (Night values are lower).

Serum or plasma must be separated from cells within 2 hours of collection.
