However, during pregnancy it becomes markedly elevated. Notes: 1)ß-HCG can be useful tumor marker tests for monitoring gestational trophoblastic neoplasm and germ cell tumors of the testis and ovary. 2)Elevated ß-HCG levels have been observed in ovarian cancer, breast cancer, melanoma, GI tract neoplasm, sarcoma, lung cancer, renal cancer, and hematopoietic malignancies.
