Specimen Requirements
Preferred Collection Container: green top lithium heparin tube, SST
Also Acceptable Collection Container: serum red top tube or EDTA purple top tube
Collection Information:
Collect 2 mL of Lithium heparinized plasma or serum.
Serum or plasma must be separated from cells within 2 hours of collection.

Useful For
Detects the presence of antibodies to HIV1, HIV1 (groups M and O), HIV2 viral exposure and detection of Human Immunodeficiency virus p24 antigen. Samples that have a reactive screening result will automatically be reflexed to the HIV 1/2 Confirmation/Differentiation (HIV4GC) immunochromatographic assay. Follow up for positive screening assays should be coordinated with infectious disease physicians.
