Specimen Requirements

Preferred Collection Container: green top lithium heparin tube, SST 

Also Acceptable Collection Container: serum red top tube

Collection Information:

Collect 0.5 mL of Lithium heparinized plasma or serum. 

If drawn in a SST tube and specimen has an overnight delay before being delivered to the lab, serum must be poured off into an aliquot tube. 

Serum or plasma must be separated from cells within 2 hours of collection.
