Specimen Requirements

Collect 1 mL placental arterial blood in pre-heparinized syringe, plain syringe, capillary tube, or heparinized test tube (dark green top tube with NO gel). Do NOT expose to air.

Placental Blood Gases are used to evaluate fetal respiratory status at time of delivery.
