Specimen Requirements

Preferred Collection Container: green top lithium heparin tube

Also Acceptable Collection Container: SST, serum red top tube, or EDTA purple top tube (Allen only)

Collection Information:

Collect 0.5 mL of Lithium heparinized plasma or serum.

Serum or plasma must be separated from cells within 2 hours of collection. 

Do not use serum and plasma interchangeably from the same patient.
