Place amount in mL that needs to be transfused. Typically a full unit of RBCs will be issued to the floor and the RN will transfuse the amount that is needed.

Specimen Requirements

Preferred Collection Container: EDTA pink top tube

Acceptable Collection Container: EDTA purple top tube

Collect: One 6mL EDTA pink top tube labeled appropriately.

Labeling guidelines:

Allen in-patient or out-patient with armband: Label specimen with sunquest cart printed label scanned at the bedside or hand written orange label completed at patient bedside.
