Useful For
SAR-coV-2 testing: A positive test result indicates that the RNA from SARS-CoV-2 was detected and the patient is infected with the virus and presumed to be contagious. A negative test result means SARS-Cov-2 RNA was not present in the specimen above the limit of detection. A negative result does not rule out COVID-19 and should not be used as the sole basis for treatment or patient management decisions.
Influenza testing: Influenza is an acute viral disease that is seasonal in incidence. The illness presents with sudden onset of fever, chills, headache, myalgia and a non-productive cough. This PCR test is for the direct and qualitative detection of Influenza A&B. A negative test result does not totally eliminate the possibility of an Influenza A or B infection. Inadequate specimen collection and improper handling /transport may yield a false negative result.
RSV testing: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection is a particularly debilitating infection in infants and young children. The usual manifestations are upper respiratory disease with rhinitis and fever, which often progress to bronchiolitis, pneumonia, or both in primary infections, especially in infants less than 6 months of age. RSV infections are seasonal from late fall to spring and often occur in epidemic form. A negative test result does not eliminate the possibility of an RSV infection. Inadequate collection, improper handling may yield a false negative result.
