Specimen Requirements

Preferred Collection Container: serum red top tube

Also Acceptable Collection Container: lithium heparin NO gel tube or EDTA purple top tube @ Allen

Collection Information:

Generally samples should be collected 1 - 3 hours after an oral dose. Patient should have been on a steady dosage for 1-5 days before monitoring. If toxicity is suspected, samples can be drawn at any time.

Collect 0.5 mL serum in red top NO Gel tube.

Serum or plasma must be separated from cells within 2 hours of collection.
