Specimen Requirements

Acceptable Specimens:

Ear

1. Submit specimen using aerobic CultureSwab, e-swab or syringe from aspirate.
2. Using a swab collect sample from infected site and place swab in transport media or send syringe from aspirate.
3. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
Note: Indicate specimen source on specimen container and in computer.

Eye
1. Submit specimen using aerobic CultureSwab, e-swab or tissue.
2. Using a swab collect sample from infected site and place swab in transport media or send tissue with sterile saline in sterile container.
3. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
