Specimen Requirements

Preferred Collection Container: 

TB Gold Collection Kit - Contact Laboratory for Kit

Collection Information: 

Collect blood in the tube provided in the TB Gold Collection Kit, this tube must be full.
Collection of specimens on Friday or Saturday is discouraged if you are not able to get the sample transported to Pathology Laboratory within 48 hours.

If TB gold tubes are unavailable, two 5mL lithium heparin NO GEL tubes are acceptable.

Transport Information: 

Transport original tube, do NOT aliquot. Refrigerate immediately, refrigerated specimen must be received at Pathology Laboratory within 48 hours of collection.

Minimum Sample Volume: 

5.0 mL of whole blood

Stability Comments: 

Prefer that sample is delivered within 24 hours of collection; however, sample must be delivered to Pathology Laboratory withing 48 hours of collection at refrigerated temperature.
