Test Code TYSC Type & Screen

Important Note

Allen Laboratory Test

When this is ordered, a type and antibody screen is performed. If the patient has an antibody, it will be identified. If blood for transfusion is needed, call the Blood Bank and order the “BLOOD TO BE KEPT ON HOLD- AMH ONLY” message. Because the antibody screen has already been performed, the likelihood of compatibility is 99.8%.

Blood Availability: Blood will be available in approximately 20 minutes if Type and Crossmatch is then ordered, provided patient has had a Type and Screen within 48 hours and the Type and Screen was negative for any unexpected antibodies.
