Specimen Requirements

Preferred Collection Container: green top lithium heparin tube

Also Acceptable Collection Container: serum red top tube, SST or EDTA purple top tube @ Allen 

Collection Information:

Patient should be on a constant dosage of Vancomycin for 20-30 hours before monitoring is attempted.

Collect 1 mL of Lithium heparinized plasma.

Plasma must be separated from cells within 2 hours of collection.
